Kathmandu: The critically acclaimed play “A Report to an Academy” will be showcased at the Naga Theater of Hotel Vajra in Kathmandu. The play will run on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout June, with performances starting at 7:15 PM.

Audiences can enjoy the play with a duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Studio 7’s Production of “Red Peter” is a dramatic adaptation of Franz Kafka’s story “Report to an Academy”, in which a talking half-man/half-ape lectures an assembly of esteemed academics on the subject of Ape Hood and Humanity.

The writer Kafka uses the Ape’s brutal experience of the world of mankind to paint a grim view of human civilization

Franz Kafka was born in July 1883 into a German-speaking Jewish Family in Prague, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, today the capital of the Czech Republic. He was only 40 years old when he died. He is regarded as one of the major figures of 20th Century literature.

Studio 7 adaptation for the stage of Kafka’s story was done by Sabine Lehmann.

This Novel “Report to an Academy” was first translated in English in 1925 and published in The New York Herald Tribune. Many critiques related this Novel to Kalfa’s Jewish background, living in a time, when Fascism was showing its ugly head and when the only way to survive was to “ape” those in power.
