Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has announced a new provision stating that all vehicles operating outside the Kathmandu Valley will only be allowed to operate from the New Buspark located in Gongabu, Kathmandu.

The KMC issued a notice on Friday, informing all concerned, especially transport entrepreneurs, about this regulation. The provision applies to both short-route and long-route vehicles that operate outside the Valley.

The main objective of this provision is to streamline the traffic management system in the bus park area, which has been plagued by issues such as haphazard parking and disorganized loading and unloading of passengers.

The ticket booking counter inside the bus park, however, will remain unchanged. Also, the KMC has called upon concerned stakeholders to relocate the ticket booking counter located outside the bus park by June 16.

Likewise, vehicles traveling on long routes and holding permits up to Banepa, Sankhu, and Dhulikhel are now prohibited from making stops at stations between Kalanki and Jadibuti. The KMC has warned that it will collaborate with the Traffic Police to take action against those who fail to comply with the new notice.
