Nepal faces nine runs defeat to Pakistan ‘A’ in ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup

Kathmandu: Nepal has faced a 9-run defeat to Pakistan ‘A’ in a match held today under the ACC Women’s T20 Emerging Team Asia Cup 2023. 

Chasing the 88-run target posted by Pakistan, Nepal was limited to 78 runs in allotted 20 overs at the loss of six wickets. For Nepal, opener Kabita Kunwar hit highest 20 runs off 32 balls. Kabita Joshi remained unbeaten on 15 runs off 17 balls. 

However, other batters could not score double digits. For Pakistan ‘A’, Sajjida Shah and Tuba Hassan bagged two wickets each, and Anoosha Nasir and Umm-e-Hani bagged a wicket each. 

Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Pakistan ‘A’ made 87 runs in 19.2 overs losing all wickets. For the team, Shawaal Zulfiqar scored highest 28 runs off 36 balls while Fatima Sana 16 runs off 23 balls. Similarly, Gull Feroza made 11 runs off 18 balls. On the bowling side, Nepal’s Indu Barma took three wickets. 

Similarly, Kabita Joshi, Kabita Kunwar and Sita Ranamagar claimed two wickets each. Various eight countries have been participating in the Asia Cup. The participating teams have been divided into two groups. Nepal is placed into Group ‘A’ alongside India, Pakistan ‘A’ and Hong Kong. Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka ‘A’ are in Group ‘B’. In its second match, Nepal is facing India on coming June 15.
