Kathmandu: A 171 runs opening partnership between openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh helped Nepal post 290 runs target against Zimbabwe in the opening match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. Nepal scored 290 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs.

Losing the toss and invited to bat first, Nepal started strongly as Bhurtel scored 99 runs off 95 balls with the help of 13 fours and two sixes. Another opener Sheikh scored 66 runs off 100 balls with the help of seven fours.

As two wickets fell in quick successions, Kushal Malla and Rohit Paudel handled Nepal’s innings  with 72 runs partnership. Skipper Paudel scored 31 runs off 29 balls, while Malla scored 41 off 42 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes.
