Chinese plane makes the first international flight to Pokhara international airport

The Airbus A-319 of Sichuan Airlines flew to Pokhara International Airport from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport this morning.

Kathmandu: The first international flight to Pokhara International Airport was accomplished today.  “The maiden international direct flight to Pokhara International Airport, run by China Sichuan Airlines, touched down on PIA this morning,” the Chinese ambassador to Nepal Chen Song wrote on Twitter. “It opened a new chapter of China-Nepal friendship & will greatly contribute to the people to people exchange between our two countries.”

This is the first international flight after the PIA, built by Chinese company, was inaugurated and brought into operation around six months ago.

The tourism entrepreneurs in Pokhara had been demanding that the government facilitated the smooth operation of PIA so as to promote tourism.

The Airbus A-319 of Sichuan Airlines flew to Pokhara International Airport from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport this morning. The plane landed on PIA at 9:06.   Ganesh Prasad Timalsina, the National Assembly chair and his team, who were in China visit returned to the country through that flight along with the Chinese sportspeople who are coming to participate in the Nepal-China Friendship Dragon Festival which is being held in Pokhara on Friday and Saturday. Eight teams from China, Nepal and Singapore are going to compete for the 200 meters and 500 meters championship in the festival.
