Nepal reaches semifinal in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier

Kathmandu: Nepal has entered semi-final of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers tournament by defeating Qatar. In the match played today at Bangi of Malaysia, Nepal defeated Qatar by nine wickets and set journey for semi-final. It is fourth consecutive win for Nepal in the tournament. Earlier, Nepal outshined home team Malaysia, Bahrain and Bhutan. Nepal has secured its place in semi-final ahead of a match from the group ‘A’.

Chasing the target of 75 runs for victory, Nepal gathered the runs in 10.3 overs at loss of a wicket. Kajal Shrestha made highest 32 runs for Nepal’s win. Likewise, Indu Burma remained unbeaten with 20 runs. Invited for bat first after losing toss, Qatar made 74 runs in the limited 20 overs at the loss of seven wickets. Indu Sharma took three wickets for Nepal while Puja Mahato and Kabita Joshi took each wicket. Nepal is set to play against UAE in the final tournament of the group phase on Wednesday.
