Bajhang earthquake update: One dead, 135 houses damaged

Kathmandu: A person died in the earthquakes that occurred in Bajhang district on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Gunamati Dhami, a 40-year-old resident of Jayaprithvi municipality-11 in Okhal.

Inspector Dipesh Chaudhary, Information Officer of the District Police Office, said that Dhami lost his life when he became trapped in a landslide triggered by the earthquake on Tuesday. A police team has been deployed to the incident site to manage the situation.

The earthquake also left 11 people injured in Bajhang. Of these, two individuals have returned home after receiving treatment, while nine others are currently under medical care at the district hospital. Likewise, the earthquake inflicted damage on a total of 135 structures within the district, according to Inspector Chaudhary. 60 houses in Thalara and 41 houses in Jayaprithvi municipality were among the affected structures.
