Kathmandu: Rabindra Mishra, senior vice-president of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has asked President Ram Chandra Paudel to cancel his Europe trip and redirect the budget to relief and rescue of the earthquake victims in Jajarkot and Rukum.

The earthquake that struck Jajarkot and Rukum West districts has stunned us all, Mishra wrote on social media platform X. “In this time of crisis, let us all help from wherever we are and in whatever way we can.” “It would be wise for the president to cancel his Europe trip in these times of national tragedy and the funds allocated for the trip should be directed for the relief and rescue efforts.”

According to Mishra, the RPP has mobilized a team of volunteers under the leadership of Gyanendra Shahi, the chief whip of the parliamentary party. Additionally, the women’s organization of RPP is preparing to provide relief materials to the affected areas.

President Paudel is scheduled to go on Europea visit on November 8, which includes stops in Germany and Italy, with a prior engagement at the ‘Paris Peace Forum’ in France. The Council of Ministers approved his travel schedule during a meeting held on Thursday.

The earthquake in western Nepal has killed over 100 people and caused huge damages to houses and infrastructures. Teams of Nepal Army and Nepal Police are carrying our search and rescue operations on the ground.
