Nepal exports marigold to Qatar

The marigold flower produced by Yanchok Mothers' Group and Andhimul Mothers' Group in Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality of Tanahun district were exported to Qatar.

Tanahun: The first of its kind, Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality in Tanahun district exported marigold flower to Doha of Qatar. The marigold flower produced by Yanchok Mothers’ Group and Andhimul Mothers’ Group were exported to Qatar. With the beginning of the commercial flower production, the trend to import flowers has come to an end, Chairwoman of Yanchok Mothers’ Group Sunita Alemagar told the RSS.

Alemagar said that women in the village have made good income from flower selling in the recent days. The rural municipality office has also provided technical assistance and grants in the flowers’ seeds to help promote women in income generation through flower production. Chief of Agriculture Section of Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality Santosh KC said that 85 kilograms of marigold produced in 21 ropani area from the two groups was exported to Qatar. It is said that per kilogram of marigold was sold at Rs 550. The Sudan Flower of Doha’s Regency Market had ordered the flower from Anbukhaireni.
