Kathmandu: The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu, has declared the areas stretching from Maitighar to Baneshwor in Kathmandu as a prohibited zone. The prohibited area spans from the Padmodaya School turn to Singha Durbar West Gate, from the Supreme Court surrounding Maitighar Mandala, from Maitighar Mandala to Babarmahal, and from Bijuli Bazar to New Baneshwor Chowk.

In a press statement issued on Monday, the DAO announced a prohibitory order effective from November 20, restricting gatherings of more than five people and prohibiting protests, demonstrations, sit-in protests, gherao, meetings, and other similar activities in the designated area.

The order will be in effect for 30 days from the date of enforcement, according to the DAO, Kathmandu. Jitendra Basnet, the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kathmandu, stated that the decision to declare the prohibited area was made due to security concerns. He emphasized that mass gatherings in these locations, involving one or more groups at the same date, time, and place for protest activities, could lead to disputes, fights, and confrontations, jeopardizing peace and order.

The DAO, Kathmandu, aims to ensure the smooth operation of public service providers in the prohibited area, protect and secure public properties, and prevent any adverse impact on ambulances, the fire brigade, and the public transportation system in those areas, as stated by CDO Basnet.
