Kathmandu: A clash erupted between police and supporters of Durga Prasai as they tried to break the police cordon in the Balkhu area of Kathmandu on Thursday.

According to police, few protesters are injured in the incident.

In a tense confrontation, police deployed water cannons and tear gas to disperse supporters of controversial medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, accusing him of inciting the crowd.

The situation intensified as protesters, immediately after Prasai’s address at Balkhu, retaliated by pelting stones at security personnel.

Prasai, leading the “Nation, Nationality, Religion-Culture, and Citizen Rescue Campaign,” has issued a threat to overthrow the current regime with the aim of restoring the monarchy and reestablishing the Hindu Kingdom.
