Police arrest a man on charge of revealing identity of victim in Sandeep Lamichhane rape case

Kathmandu: Police have arrested a man on charges of revealing the identity of the victim raped by former cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.

Acting on a complaint filed by the victim, police have arrested 36-year-old Kedarman Rai from Sankhuwasabha district on charges of revealing the identity of ‘Gausala 26,’ the name given to the victim, according to SSP Nabinda Aryal of Cyber Bureau.

The victim in the Sandeep Lamichhane rape case had lodged a complaint with the Cyber Bureau against six social media pages and individuals who posted a photo of a girl, identifying her as the victim.

Sandeep Lamichhane has already been convicted and sentenced to eight years in jail. 

According to the police, the arrested individual has already been remanded by the Sankhuwasabha District Court for seven days in custody for investigation.
