Police arrest 3045 drug peddlers in six months

Kathmandu: A total of 3,045 individuals have been arrested in Kathmandu for offenses related to narcotic drugs in the past six months, according to Nepali Police. 

A total of 3,450 individuals, including drug users, peddlers, and those involved in drug-related crimes, were arrested in the first six months of the current financial year.

The arrested individuals include 2,758 Nepali men, 144 Nepali women, 133 foreign men, and 10 foreign women. So far, cases have been filed against 1,960 of them. They have been found involved in activities such as smuggling, trading, and transporting banned narcotics such as marijuana, hashish, heroin, opium, and cocaine. Additionally, a significant amount of these banned substances were seized during the arrests.

In the meantime, police today on Monday arrested three individuals with 285 kilograms of marijuana from the IT Park road of Panauti Municipality-5. The arrested individuals were identified as Buddhaman Tamang from Bidur Municipality-11, Nuwakot, Sanjit Tamang (20 years old) from Ramechhap Municipality-8, and Bimala Tamang (53 years old). Also, two individuals were arrested from Nagadhunga in Chandragiri Municipality-2 with 76 grams of heroin.
