Kathmandu: In a thrilling opening game of the three-match bilateral series played at TU International Ground in Kathmandu, Nepal secured a nail-biting victory over Canada by seven runs.

Chasing a target of 225 runs, Canada managed to score 217 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 47.5 overs.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Nepal failed to capitalize on a solid start and faltered in the middle and later overs, eventually posting a total of 224 runs. However, Nepali captain Rohit Kumar Paudel’s remarkable bowling performance turned the tide as he claimed four crucial wickets, conceding just 22 runs, to secure the win for Nepal.

Earlier, opener Kushal Bhurtel scored 62 runs off 58 balls, including nine fours and one six to help Nepal post a decent total of 224 runs.

Nepal is scheduled to play the second game of the series on Saturday.
