Kailali: The dead body of a youth who went missing after jumping off the Chisapani bridge into the Karnali River was found at around 4pm on Thursday.
Kuldip Chand, the spokesperson of the District Police Office, Kailali, confirmed that the deceased was Lokendra Shahi, 30, of Lamki Chuha Municipality-3 in Kailali district. Shahi’s body was retrieved from the Sankattighat area of Tikapur Municipality.
Shahi had disappeared in the river on Monday. Immediately after the incident, divers and personnel from the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force were mobilized in search of the youth. The youth, who were enjoying the Holi festival, had reached the bridge over the Karnali river to take photos. Shahi had jumped off the bridge, and 16 other youths had swum across the river.
