Panchthar: One student died and eight other students got injured in a tractor accident in Dumrise in ward 4 of Yangwarak Rural Municipality, Panchthar, on Wednesday morning.
According to the police, the accident took place at around 9:00 am, and all the students studying at the local Siddheswari Secondary School were going to school by asking for a lift in the tractor. The tractor was going towards Talkharka in Dumrise through Khare, of the rural municipality.
The tractor fell some 15 meters down the hill, losing its balance, which killed the student on the spot and injured others.
The deceased was a nine-year-old boy studying in grade six from the same ward of the rural municipality.
Police Inspector Kamal Lungeli, information officer at the Panchthar District Police Office, said that the students were rescued by the locals from the site, and the injured students are receiving treatment at the Panchthar District Hospital.
“The driver fled the scene after the accident. We have issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) and have informed all the law enforcement agencies to catch the driver,” said Lungeli.
Further investigation regarding the incident is going on, Lungeli further added.
