Supreme Court hearing contempt of court case against PM Oli

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday is hearing a contempt of court case filed against Prime Minister KP Oli and four former Chief Justices.

The cases were filed against them for making comments on a case against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) while the case was sub-judice at the Constitutional Bench of the apex court.

Advocates Kanchan Krishna Neupane and Kumar Sharma Acharya on January 26, 2021, had filed the case against the Prime Minister.

During an initial hearing on the case, a single bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma had ordered PM Oli to present before the court with a written clarification.

Prime Minister Oli had submitted a clarification arguing that he had not performed contempt of the court.
