Kathmandu: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Mahanta Thakur and senior leader Rajendra Mahato have started collecting signatures of lawmakers close to them.

The leaders summoned the lawmakers representing the House of Representatives at the party’s office in Babarmahal and make them sign on a document, confirmed a lawmaker refusing to be named.

“Lawmakers currently in the Valley have been called to the party office and asked to sign. The lawmakers outside the Valley have been instructed to come immediately,” the lawmaker said, adding, “The lawmakers have been instructed not to leave Kathmandu as current political developments are unpredictable.”

JSP lawmaker Pramod Sha confirmed that the leaders summoned lawmakers and held a meeting, adding that lawmakers were not made to sign on a blank paper.

“Something might have been written in the paper. I can’t say anything as I am out of Valley,” Sha said.

Sha did not want to reveal the purpose of collecting the signatures
