When we hear the word mental wellbeing, what comes to our mind? Don’t we see it as anything out of the ordinary in our daily lives? If this is the case, we must educate ourselves extensively. The problem is rarely discussed. Lack of knowledge and adequate guidance from the right people can lead to suicide.

In general, mental health is a state of well-being. Emotional, physiological, and social well-being are all part of it. Mental health is important in every aspect of one’s life. However, people are still hesitant to talk publicly about mental health problems because of their orthodox beliefs on the topic. People who suffer from mental illness, such as depression, anxiety, or panic disorders, eventually decline to see a doctor. The reason is the mental illness is still stigmatized in our society.

We can figure out a solution when we openly talk and discuss the problem. But in the case of mental health-related problems, one isn’t able to find solutions quickly as they are unclear about their condition. This will ultimately lead to depression.

The following are examples of unknown factors that can contribute to mental illness. The first is not expressing your feelings with others. No matter you’re happy or sad, try to share your feelings with your loved ones. We all at some point of time have noticed that sharing feelings helps us to breathe a sigh of relief.

So, big or tiny, happy or sad, just share your feelings. The second is saying yes to everything just to make other feel better.

Second, people, particularly introverts, find it difficult to say no. This nature is also dangerous from the perspective of mental wellbeing. We fail to value our own likes and dislikes when trying to please those around us by agreeing with everything they say. So learn to say no to things that don’t make you feel better.

Many people suffer from a mental health condition because they are unable to recognize the early signs and symptoms

The third is overthinking. It has become more common these days as people exaggerate something excessively and build a crisis that doesn’t even exist in the real world. We must understand that having too much of something is an issue. Don’t overthink and overemphasize. Simply go with the flow. These are the most common factors that unknowingly contribute to mental illness. The rest varies from person to person.

Many people suffer from a mental health condition because they are unable to recognize the early signs and symptoms and fail to treat it until it becomes a big problem. Let’s see how close we get to that direction without even realizing it. If you identify with any of the below, you will need the services of a health care provider.

Simultaneously, if you start noticing subtle changes or have the feeling that something isn’t quite right about your thought, feeling, or actions, this is an early warning sign that you should act quickly. Early intervention may help to lessen the seriousness of a condition. The key symptoms include being unable to focus on one thing for an extended period of time, sudden and drastic shifts of emotions, depressed feelings, a decrease in normal functioning, odd and inflated belief, a vague sense of being disconnected from oneself, and so on. One or two of these symptoms, according to the mental health counselor, will predict mental illness. If a person is experiencing several at the same time, he or she may seek treatment from a mental health provider. People who are suicidal or have thoughts of harming others need urgent assistance.

Mental wellbeing and pandemic

Covid 19 has become a major problem the world is currently dealing with. It has a devastating effect on people’s lives, as well as on social, economic, and other aspects. It is not unusual for people to suffer from mental illness during the pandemic.

Today, cities are under lockdown, many people have lost loved ones, tens of millions of people are at risk of falling into extreme poverty and human life is being lost at an alarming rate around the world. At the same time, the pandemic’s economic and social effects are catastrophic. On that note, everybody is suffering right now; it’s just that the extent of the suffering or loss differs. So, it is perfectly acceptable to experience mental unease in this situation.

If your thinking is bothering you, don’t keep it to yourself; instead, share it.

At this time if one is confirmed that he/she is suffering from mental health issues that could lead to depression or anxiety, the following steps should be taken in the beginning: first, share your feelings; the more you share your troubling thoughts, the better you will feel. Sharing your feelings will not only relieve your mental stress but will also assist you in finding a more permanent solution to your dilemma. So, if your thinking is bothering you, don’t keep it to yourself; instead, share it.

Meditate because it is a secret to finding calm. If you are easily distracted and unable to focus on one thing at a time, you are in desperate need of meditation. Split some time for you to meditate and find peace inside yourself, whether it’s early in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Now, for the most critical part: if the situation is really life-threatening, do not hesitate to consult a psychiatrist. If you feel utterly lost in life and can’t seem to find a way out, you should seek professional help from a therapist.

At last, do not regard it as a stigma that should act as a deterrent to seeking support. Remember, mental disorder is simply an unhealthy mental condition that every person goes through at various times in their lives, so don’t wait until it’s too late to seek treatment because mental wellbeing is important and mental health matters.
