Covid-19 crisis: Nepal sees 8,960 fresh cases and 214 deaths; Kathmandu Valley records 51,116 cases in 15 days

Kathmandu: A total of 8,960 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours in the country through 20,245 RT-PCR tests and 771 antigen tests done in various laboratories around the country.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, during the period a total of 5,055 people recovered.

Likewise, 214 succumbed to the pandemic. This takes the total number of positive cases to 431,191 and fatalities to 4,466. The total recoveries have reached 321,518 with a recovery rate of 74.6 percent. Presently, 105,207 people are in isolation.

In the past 24 hours, Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,562 fresh cases— Kathmandu district saw 2,733 cases, Lalitpur 481 and Bhaktapur 346.

Major parts of the country including the federal capital Kathmandu are under prohibitory order to curb the spread of the virus. However, cases have continued to surge. Kathmandu valley recorded 51,116 cases in 15 days.

April 29

Health authorities in Nepal recorded 4,928 new coronavirus cases and 35 fatalities in the last 24 hours. On April 29, Kathmandu Valley saw 1,561 cases with Kathmandu 1,127 cases in Kathmandu, 182 in Bhaktapur and 252 in Lalitpur.

April 30

A total of 5,727 new cases reported in the country as 33 people succumbed to the virus. A total of 2,956 cases were reported in Kathmandu Valley with 2,404 cases in Kathmandu, 419 in Lalitpur and 133 in Bhaktapur.

May 1

Nepal recorded 5,763 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours pushing the total tally to 328,893 (in PCR tests) while the death toll reached 3,298 with 19 fatalities. On this day, Kathmandu Valley witnessed 2,495 fresh Covid-19 cases.

May 2

Health authorities in Nepal recorded 7,211 new coronavirus cases in the highest single-day spike and 27 fatalities in the last 24 hours. Likewise, Kathmandu Valley witnesses 3,595 fresh covid-19 cases.

May 3

Nepal has yet again registered record-high coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Health authorities in Nepal recorded 7,448 new coronavirus cases in the highest single-day spike and 37 fatalities. A total of 3,666 fresh  cases were recorded in Kathmandu Valley.

May 4

The country recorded 7,660 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the highest single-day spike. A total of 55 people succumbed to coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 3,417 in Nepal. Kathmandu Valley saw  3,893 fresh Covid-19 cases

May 5

Nepal registered 8,659 cases of Covid-19 in yet another highest single-day spike as second wave infections rage across the country. A total of 58 people died of the pandemic in the last 24 hours taking the death tally to 3,475. The Valley witnessed 3,352 fresh cases.

May 6

Nepal recorded 9,070 fresh coronavirus cases in yet another highest single-day spike. According to the ministry, 54 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,835 fresh Covid-19 cases

May 7

The country recorded an additional 9,196 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours in yet another record daily spike, taking the caseload to a total of 377,603. A total of 50 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley witnessed 4,106 fresh cases.

May 8

Nepal recorded 8,418 cases of Covid-19, including 8,297 from RT-PCR tests and 131 from antigen tests. A total of 53 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley saw 3,113 fresh Covid-19 cases.

May 9

Nepal recorded 8,850 fresh coronavirus cases. Active cases have crossed the 88,000-mark. According to the ministry, 88 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. A total of 4,198 fresh covid-19 cases recorded in Kathmandu Valley.

May 10

Nepal recorded 9,271 fresh cases in the highest single-day spike as Covid-19 cases. A total of 139 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu valley sees 3,607 fresh cases of coronavirus in 24 hours

May 11

Nepal recorded 9,483 cases of Covid-19 from 20,596 RT-PCR tests and 720 antigen tests. A total of 225 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley witnessed 3,927 fresh Covid-19 cases

May 12

The country recorded an additional 9,305 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours in yet another record daily spike. A total of 168 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,924 fresh cases— Kathmandu district saw 3,250 cases, Lalitpur 448, and Bhaktapur 226.

A total of 8,960 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours in the country. There are 3,562 news cases in the Valley.
