214 succumb to Covid-19 in last 24 hours; 9,247 fresh cases recorded

Kathmandu: The country has witnessed a total of 9,247 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population stated on Monday. Covid-19 cases in the country had gone down for few days with fewer tests. The daily count has gone up again with tests increased.

A total of 9,198 cases were recorded from 21,653 RT-PCR tests and 49 others from 434 antigen tests in the last 24 hours. Nepal had witnessed 8,167 cases on Saturday from 18,548 tests done. A total of 7,368 were diagnosed positive on Sunday with 19,883 tests carried out.

In the past 24 hours, 5,767 patients recovered from the virus. Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley saw a total of 3,098 cases including 2,346 in Kathmandu district, 454 in Lalitpur and 298 in Bhaktapur district in the last 24 hours.

With this, the Covid-19 caseload in the country reached 464,218 till today, while the number of active cases is 113,480.

 Likewise, altogether 345, 523 Covid-19 patients got full recovery. The Ministry said that the recovery rate in Nepal is 74.4 percent. 

Covid-19 cases in the country had gone down for few days with fewer tests. 

The total death toll from Covid-19 in Nepal reached 5,215 including 214 deaths caused due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Among the age group of active cases, people between 30 to 39 years old are the highest with 2,220 followed by 2,014 in the 20-29 age group and 1,722 in 40-49 age group. Of them, 106,510 people are in home-based isolation while 6,970 are in institutional isolation. Furthermore, 1,259 patients are in ICU while 400 infected are in ventilator support. The data of infection and fatalities so far shows a positivity rate of 16.6 per cent and case fatality rate of 1.5 per cent. Total death per million is 178.9.

Major parts of the country including the federal capital Kathmandu are under prohibitory order to curb the spread of the virus. However, cases have continued to surge. Kathmandu valley recorded 56,117 cases in 15 days.

May 2

Health authorities in Nepal recorded 7,211 new coronavirus cases in the highest single-day spike and 27 fatalities in the last 24 hours. Likewise, Kathmandu Valley witnesses 3,595 fresh covid-19 cases.

May 3

Nepal has yet again registered record-high coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Health authorities in Nepal recorded 7,448 new coronavirus cases in the highest single-day spike and 37 fatalities. A total of 3,666 fresh  cases were recorded in Kathmandu Valley.

The country recorded 7,660 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the highest single-day spike. A total of 55 people succumbed to coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 3,417 in Nepal. Kathmandu Valley saw  3,893 fresh Covid-19 cases

Nepal registered 8,659 cases of Covid-19 in yet another highest single-day spike as second wave infections rage across the country. A total of 58 people died of the pandemic in the last 24 hours taking the death tally to 3,475. The Valley witnessed 3,352 fresh cases.

May 6

Nepal recorded 9,070 fresh coronavirus cases in yet another highest single-day spike. According to the ministry, 54 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,835 fresh Covid-19 cases

May 7

The country recorded an additional 9,196 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours in yet another record daily spike, taking the caseload to a total of 377,603. A total of 50 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley witnessed 4,106 fresh cases.

May 8

Nepal recorded 8,418 cases of Covid-19, including 8,297 from RT-PCR tests and 131 from antigen tests. A total of 53 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley saw 3,113 fresh Covid-19 cases.

May 9

Nepal recorded 8,850 fresh coronavirus cases. Active cases have crossed the 88,000-mark. According to the ministry, 88 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. A total of 4,198 fresh covid-19 cases recorded in Kathmandu Valley.

May 10

Nepal recorded 9,271 fresh cases in the highest single-day spike as Covid-19 cases. A total of 139 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu valley sees 3,607 fresh cases of coronavirus in 24 hours.

May 11

Nepal recorded 9,483 cases of Covid-19 from 20,596 RT-PCR tests and 720 antigen tests. A total of 225 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley witnessed 3,927 fresh Covid-19 cases

May 12

The country recorded an additional 9,305 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours in yet another record daily spike. A total of 168 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,924 fresh cases— Kathmandu district saw 3,250 cases, Lalitpur 448, and Bhaktapur 226.

May 13

A total of 8,960 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours in the country. There are 3,562 new cases in the Valley.

May 14

A total of 8,520 new cases of Covid-19 reported in the past 24 hours in the country. In the past 24 hours, Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,369 fresh cases— Kathmandu district saw 2,458 cases, Lalitpur 556, and Bhaktapur 355.

May 15

The country has recorded an additional 8,167 new Covid-19 cases, taking the caseload to a total of 447,704. Kathmandu Valley saw 2,937 fresh cases.

May 16

Nepal recorded a total of 7,368 new cases as the Valley saw 2,609 fresh Covid-19 cases.
