Covid-19: Nepal witnesses 8,636 fresh cases and 169 deaths; Kathmandu Valley records 2,613 cases

Kathmandu: Nepal on Tuesday recorded 8,636 fresh coronavirus and 169 deaths in the last 24 hours, the country’s Ministry of Health and Population stated.

According to the Ministry of Health, 8,387 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 249 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 22,306 people were tested through the PCR method while 630 samples were tested adopting the antigen method.

With this, the number of active cases of coronavirus across the country has reached 117,261. The country has so far recorded a total number of 528,848 coronavirus cases.

According to the ministry, 169 people had lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. As of today, coronavirus-related death has reached 6,700. Meanwhile, 6,404 got recovered during the period.

Likewise, Kathmandu Valley recorded 2,613 coronavirus infection-related cases as Kathmandu saw 1,863 cases, Lalitpur 427 and Bhaktapur 323 cases in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley records 47,696 cases in 15 days

Major parts of the country including the federal capital Kathmandu are under prohibitory order to curb the spread of the virus. But Kathmandu recorded 47,696 cases in 15 days.

A total of 8,960 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours in the country. There are 3,562 new cases in the Valley.
