Second Covid-19 wave: 8,243 recover; 5,042 new cases and 68 deaths reported in last 24 hours

Kathmandu: As many as 8,243 people have recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of people recovered from Covid-19 has reached 484,373 in the country. The recovery rate has now climbed to 82.8 percent. 

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 5,042 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded across the nation during the same period. With this, number of Covid-19 infected people has reached 585,100.

Meanwhile, 68 people died of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 7,799 till date.

The latest Covid-19 cases were detected from 16,814 tests, including 11,471 RT-PCR and 5,343 antigen tests held in various laboratories in the country in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, total number of active cases stands at 92,928. Kathmandu recorded 723 new cases, Lalitpur 141 cases and Bhaktapur 73 cases. The number of active cases in Kathmandu stands at 13,159 while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have 5,118 and 3,767 active cases respectively.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,093 fresh Covid-19 cases on May 30; 1,263 on May 31; 1,558 on June 1; 1,456 on June 2; 2,057 cases on June 3; 1,384 new cases on June 4 and 937 cases on June 5.
