House dissolution case: SC Bar Association recommends advocates for amicus curiae

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court Bar Association has forwarded names of senior advocates Komal Prakash Ghimire and Prakash KC for amicus curiae.

Their names were recommended to the Constitutional Bench of the apex court that is hearing cases against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

The SC on June 9 had called amicus curiae to advise the court on writs filed against the dissolution of the Parliament. Following the debate on Wednesday, a Constitutional Bench headed by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR had asked Nepal Bar Association and the Supreme Court Bar Association to provide names of two senior advocates each for the amicus curiae. Nepal Bar Association is yet to recommend names.

The bench will conduct a continuous hearing on writs filed against the dissolution from June 23.
