Opposition alliance demands to ensure effective rescue and relief operations

Kathmandu: The opposition alliance has demanded with the government to make the rescue and relief of flood and landslide victims effective.

Issuing a joint statement on Thursday, the alliance also called on cadres and leaders, and organizations to assist in the relief and rescue efforts.

“We urge the government to effectively carry out rescue and relief works to protect the people from floods, landslides, and inundation, assistance to the families of the deceased, and treatment to the injured,” reads the statement.

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda, UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav, and Rastriya Janamorcha leader Durga Poudel issued the statement.

Flood and landslide calamity has been witnessed in most of the districts of the country at the beginning of the monsoon. Many people have lost their lives while physical structures and cereal crops worth billions of rupees have been damaged as well as livestock have perished due to this disaster. As a result, the life which was already adversely affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic has become further treacherous.
