Kathmandu: Rescue and relief operations are in a full swing in Melamchi Bazaar of Sindhupalchowk district where a massive flood in Melamchi River caused large-scale devastation.

Government agencies and various social organizations are involved in rescue and relief works. A total of 250 personnel of Nepal Police, Nepal Army, and Armed Police Force have been deployed in the flood-affected areas.

Monsoon-induced floods in the Melamchi River caused huge loss of life and properties in Melamchi Bazaar on Tuesday. The flash flood inundated settlements on the river banks and washed away houses and bridges. The swollen river has also washed away a dozen suspension bridges.
