Covid-19 Nepal: Active cases drop to 57,618; 2,401 fresh cases and 34 fatalities recorded in last 24 hours

Kathmandu: A total of 3,660 people have recovered in a span of 24 hours in the country, while the number of new confirmed cases reported is 2,401, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The Ministry of Health said that 1,688 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 713 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 7,010 people were tested through the PCR method while 4,686 samples were tested adopting the antigen method.

According to the Ministry, 34 people succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 8,675.

A decline in new cases and improvement in daily recoveries have taken active Covid-19 cases in Nepal down significantly in the past two weeks.

The Ministry said Nepal has 57,618 active cases as of Saturday afternoon. Nepal had 89,217 active cases on June 6; 85,544 in June 7; 82,736 on June 8; 80,336 on June 9; 77,858 on June 10; 75,275 on June 11; 71,301 on June 12; 68,966 on June 13; 65,804 on June 14; 63,257 on June 15; 62,137 on June 16; 61,725 on June 17 and 59,624 on June 18.
