Covid-19 Nepal: Positivity rate hovers around 22 percent in last 10 days

Kathmandu: The country has witnessed a total of 2,328 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population stated on Saturday.

According to the Ministry of Health, 1,527 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 801 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 5,837 people were tested through the PCR method while 4,296 samples were tested adopting the antigen method. The positivity rate stands at 22.9 percent.

Likewise, altogether 3,066 Covid-19 patients got full recovery during the period. The Ministry said that the recovery rate in Nepal is 94.3 percent.

According to the Ministry, 19 people succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 9,198.

Nepal currently has 27,716 active cases. There are 5,051 active cases in Kathmandu, 1,210 in Bhaktapur, and 1,694 in Lalitpur.

The average Covid-19 positivity rate in Nepal in the last 10 days is 21.64 percent. The positivity rate was 17.25 percent on June 25, 21.19 percent on June 26, 19.52 percent on June 27, 20.99 percent on June 28, 22.44 percent on June 29, 25 percent on June 30, 25.13 percent on July 1, 21.69 on July 2 and 22.97 percent on July 3.
