UML demands formation of parliamentary probe committee to investigate Darchula incident

Kathmandu: The CPN-UML has demanded the government to form a parliamentary probe committee to carry out an investigation into the Darchula incident.

Local Jay Singh Dhami has gone missing in Mahakali River after falling from a tuin (a cable crossing) after Indian border security forces allegedly cut the cable while Dhami was crossing the river on July 30.

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota allocated time for UML lawmaker Ganesh Singh Thagunna after UML lawmakers protested the Darchula incident standing from their seats soon after the beginning of today’s meeting of the House of Representatives.

The main opposition has demanded that a formal protest should be registered before India regarding the incident, action should be taken against the accused Indian SSB, and arrangements be made for providing compensation to the family of the deceased.

Thagunna blamed the government has been making attempts to cover up the incident, demanding action against the accused Indian SSB.
