3,218 new Covid-19 cases and 19 fatalities recorded in last 24 hours; positivity rate at 24 percent

Kathmandu: A total of 3,218 new Covid-19 cases and 19 fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said in a regular update on Saturday.

The new cases were confirmed through 8,866 RT-PCR and 4,707 antigen tests. The positivity rate stands at 23.70 percent.

The Covid-19 caseload has now reached 712,740 in PCR and 68,067 in antigen, the Health Ministry added. Nepal had recorded 3,729 cases and 25 fatalities on Friday.

With this, the number of active cases of coronavirus across the country has reached 35,432. Out of them, 32,027 are in home isolation and 3,405 undergoing treatment at institutional isolation. A total of 746 are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit while 169Covid-19 patients are under ventilator support, the Health Ministry said, adding 443 are currently quarantined.

A total of 1,722 people got discharged during the last 24 hours, the Ministry added. The recovery rate has now decreased to 93.6 percent.

According to the Ministry, 19 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. As of today, coronavirus-related deaths have reached 10,038. The case fatality rate is at 1.5 percent.
