Kathmandu: Local administrations in Kathmandu Valley have barred the operation of vehicles at night.

A meeting of Chief District Officers of three districts— Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur—on Tuesday decided to bar the operation of vehicles after 8 pm from Thursday considering an increase in Covid-19 cases.

Vehicles associated with essential services will be allowed to operate, said Kalpana Ghimire, Information Officer at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu.

The meeting extended the prohibitory order till August 24. During the period, all types of gatherings and conferences have been prohibited while party venues, cinema halls, dance bars, clubs, swimming pools, museums and theaters among others will remain closed.

Similarly, the prohibitory order issued by the District Administration Office states that people are not allowed to gather and hold processions, festivals and banquets among others.
