Govt will rescue Nepalis from Afghanistan: PM Deuba

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the government will rescue Nepalis from Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister took to social media on Monday and said that the government has already directed the concerned agencies to take stock of the situation of Nepalis in Afghanistan, adding that an initiative will be taken to rescue them immediately.

He said that the government of Nepal was responsible for the security and rescue of Nepalis in Afghanistan. “It is the responsibility of the government to provide the necessary coordination and guardianship for Nepalis awaiting security and rescue,” he said. “The government will fulfill this responsibility with vigilance and seriousness.”

As many as 1500 Nepalis are said to be in Afghanistan at the moment, according to a BBC report.
