Nepal reports 3,451 new Covid-19 cases and 35 fatalities

Kathmandu: Nepal reported 3,451 new cases of Covid-19 and 35 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said on Monday.

The new cases were confirmed from 10,093 RT-PCR and 5,518 antigen tests. The positivity rate stood at 22.10 percent.

With the new cases, the Covid-19 caseload has reached 734,838 cases in PCR and 76,015 in antigen tests. The death toll has reached 10,327 as of Monday.

Meanwhile, 2,458 recovered in the last 24 hours taking total recoveries to 685,140. The recovery rate stands at 93.2 percent.

Nepal currently has 39,371 active cases. Out of them, 36,036 are in home isolation and 3,335 undergoing treatment at institutional isolation. A total of 795 are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit while 197 Covid-19 patients are under ventilator support, the Health Ministry said, adding 402 are currently quarantined.

Meanwhile, the number of fully vaccinated people reaches 3,490,065 while 4,716,936 have received the first dose of the vaccine against coronavirus infection, the Ministry said.
