Covid-19: Nepal records 3,075 new cases and 33 deaths; recovery rate decreases to 93.1 percent

Kathmandu: Nepal on Thursday recorded 3,075 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 2,321 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 754 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 11,946 people were tested through the PCR method while 4,492 samples were tested adopting the antigen method.

With this, the number of active cases of coronavirus across the country has reached 40,500. Out of them, 37,114 are in home isolation and 3,386 undergoing treatment at institutional isolation. A total of 739 are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit while 168 Covid-19 patients are under ventilator support, the Health Ministry said, adding 358 are currently quarantined.

A total of 2,126 people got discharged during the last 24 hours, the Ministry added. The recovery rate has now decreased to 93.1 percent.

According to the Ministry, 33 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. As of today, coronavirus-related deaths have reached 10,429.
