Nepal witnesses 2,075 new Covid-19 cases and 30 deaths in the last 24 hours; positivity rate at 16 percent

Kathmandu: A total of 2,075 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours in the country. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the new cases were identified from 7,703 RT-PCR and 5,372 antigen tests.

With the new cases, the Covid-19 tally has reached 745,731 (in PCR tests) and 79,991 (in antigen tests) in the country as of Saturday. The positivity rate stood at 15.86 percent.

Similarly, the Ministry confirmed that 2,382 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of recovered patients has reached 695,925 so far. The recovery rate stands at 93.3 percent.

According to the Ministry, a total of 30 Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours across the country. The Ministry stated that the total number of deaths from coronavirus infection has reached 10,485.

The Ministry has further shared that there are 39,321 active cases of coronavirus across the country. Out of them, 36,015 are in home isolation and 3,306 undergoing treatment at institutional isolation. A total of 718 are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit while 166 Covid-19 patients are under ventilator support, the Health Ministry said, adding 423 are currently quarantined.

Meanwhile, the number of fully vaccinated people reaches 3,835,608 while 4,935,056 have received the first dose of the vaccine against coronavirus infection, the Ministry said.
