Kathmandu: Local authorities in Kathmandu Valley have lifted the restriction on public and private vehicles after 8 pm. A meeting of Chief District Officers of the Valley held on Tuesday extended the prohibitory order until September 1 with some changes.

Earlier on August 12, vehicles were barred from plying in the Kathmandu Valley after 8 pm citing Covid-19 risk. The decision had come under severe criticisms from several quarters with many people terming the decision as illogical.

As per the new provision, local cargo vehicles will not be allowed to operate from 9 am to 11 am and from 4 pm to 7 pm.

During the period, all types of gatherings and conferences have been prohibited while party venues, cinema halls, dance bars, clubs, swimming pools, museums and theaters among others will remain closed.

Similarly, the prohibitory order issued by the District Administration Office states that people are not allowed to gather and hold processions, festivals and banquets among others.
