Nepal registers 1,857 new Covid-19 cases and 27 fatalities; recovery rate at 93.7 percent and fatality rate at 1.5 percent

Kathmandu: Nepal on Saturday recorded 1,857 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,516 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 341 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 9,409 people were tested through the PCR method while 3,767 samples were tested adopting the antigen method.

With this, the number of active cases of coronavirus across the country has reached 36,866. Out of them, 33,835 are in home isolation and 3,031undergoing treatment at institutional isolation. A total of 615 are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit while 174 Covid-19 patients are under ventilator support, the Health Ministry said, adding 346 are currently quarantined.

A total of 2,222 people got discharged during the last 24 hours, the Ministry added. The recovery rate is at 93.7 percent.

According to the Ministry, 27 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. As of today, coronavirus-related deaths have reached 10,690 with the fatality rate standing at 1.5 percent.
