Tandan, Bhattarai win solo Teej song and dance competition

Gulmi: Gulmi Samaj Victoria Australia has organized a solo Teej song and dance competition virtually on the occasion of the great festival of Hindu women, Haritalika Teej.

The competition was organized separately among Nepalis living in Nepal and Australia.

Due to the risk of Covid-19, 46 contestants from Australia and Nepal participated in the online competition. The results of the competition that was held for 22 days were made public on Sunday.

Among competition held among Nepalis in Australia, Dibya Bhattarai of Melbourne became first and received AUD 750. Similarly, Priti Sapkota of Melbourne and Priya Gautam were announced second and third respectively, said Prakash Aryal, Secretary of the Gulmi Society Victoria Australia. Sapkota was awarded AUD 500 while Gautam received AUD 250.

Likewise, in a competition held among Nepalis living in Nepal, Rejina Tandan was Butwal became first. Likewise, Sony Gurung of Morang and Sristi Sapkota were declared second and third respectively.

Tandan received Rs 21,000 in cash while Gurung and Sapkota got Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
