Kathmandu: Jenisha Tamang, a 16-year-old from Nuwakot, is the titleholder of Miss SEE 2021 and Miss Planet 2018. Tamang says she loves to travel and explore new places and ideas. “I think I am passionate and dynamic,” says Tamang. “I don’t have a specific aim in life yet. I set short-term goals and work to fulfill them. I’m interested in entrepreneurship.”
Tamang recently talked to Nepal Live Today about how her life changed after winning the beauty pageant, her message to aspirants, and how she lives every day as if it’s her last day.
How has your life changed after winning the pageant?
Many of us went through several difficulties during the lockdowns. For me, joining this beauty pageant was the best solution. About my life after winning the pageant, I am the same jolly girl who’s giggling and gossiping all the time. I don’t see many changes in that sense. But then I have gathered a lot of experiences.
There are many parents who don’t support their children to participate in beauty pageants. What do you want to say to them?
Parents have the responsibility to recognize their children’s talents. They must encourage their kids to engage in any sector they wish. Every child is unique and can do anything they dream of if they get enough support and encouragement.
What’s your message for those who want to participate in beauty pageants?
It truly feels so good to see young aspiring ladies with big dreams and strong willpower. I would like to remind you that you are brave and strong, you are confident and powerful. Stay passionate, believe in yourself. You can do it.
If a doctor said you only have five years to live henceforth, what would you try to accomplish?
Life is all about our mindset. I am someone who lives every day as if it’s my last day. Each day I do things that I love and make me happy and content. If a doctor gave me five years to live that would be not much of a big deal for me. I know that what I do today will define me tomorrow. It’s all about today, here and now.
