Kathmandu: Kukur Tihar, the second day of the five-day Tihar festival, is being observed across the country on Wednesday by worshipping dogs.

Kukur Tihar is also called Narak Chaturdashi. People take holy dips in rivers and ponds at sunrise on this day in observance of the Narak Chaturdashi. After taking the holy bath, devotees light what is known as the Yamadeep facing it southwards.

On the occasion of Kukur Tihar, Nepal Police, Nepal Army and Armed Police Force worshiped dogs. Dogs have been assisting the security forces in criminal investigation and search and rescue during disasters.
