Six injured in lawyers-police scuffle at Supreme Court

Kathmandu: Legal practitioners and security personnel got engaged in a scuffle at the Supreme Court’s premises on Thursday. The scuffle erupted while legal practitioners attempting to enter the apex court were stopped by the law enforcement agency.

A total of six legal practitioners including General Secretary of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) Leela Mani Poudel got injured in the incident.

Lawyers associated with the NBA, the umbrella organization of legal practitioners, have been protesting for the past few days demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

A total of 19 Justices at the apex court have been boycotting benches demanding CJ’s resignation.
