Kathmandu: The 32nd Nepal Day has been marked in Germany.
Speaking at a virtual program organized on Sunday by Germany-Nepal Friendship Association, Nepali Ambassador to Germany Ram Kaji Khadka said that Germany has been continuously supporting Nepal’s development since the establishment of diplomatic relations 63 years ago.
He thanked the German government for its assistance in rebuilding Nepal after the earthquake and tackling the pandemic. He also lauded the role played by the German-Nepal Friendship Association in mobilizing aid for Nepal from Germany after the 2015 earthquake.
Acting German Ambassador to Nepal Stephan Russek said that Covid-19 had affected Nepal’s economy like the rest of the world but there were signs of improvement. He said that Nepal has been severely affected by climate change and added that there was a need to change Nepal’s agricultural system. He stressed the need to develop Nepal as a competitive economy in the world.
Former president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association Jiba Lamichhane said that the association has now expanded to 85 countries of the world. He also said that the Non-Resident Nepali Association is mobilizing the skills, knowledge, and capital of the expatriate Nepalis for the development of Nepal. He said that the association was ready to work for the upliftment of the country only by cooperating with various partners.
Organizer Ram Pratap Thapa, president of the German-Nepal Friendship Association, said that Nepal Day was organized virtually this year due to the pandemic.
