Four killed in road accidents in western Nepal

Kathmandu: Four people have been killed in two separate accidents in Lamjung and Bajura districts on Thursday morning.

Two people were killed when a jeep met with an accident at Marshyangdi Rural Municipality-8, Bhusme of Lamjung district in western Nepal. The jeep, Ga 1 Ja 6317, carrying students and teachers of Shree Ganesh School from Marshyangdi-8, Simpani skidded off the road causing the fatalities, police said.

The identification of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, police said, adding the number of passengers traveling in the jeep is still unclear.

A team including DSP Krishna Bahadur Karki from the District Police Office is heading to the spot for rescue.

Meanwhile, two persons died in a road accident at Kapri of Jagannath rural municipality-6 in Bajura district on Thursday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Mohan Joshi, 42, of Banke district and BP Shahi of Tajakot rural municipality-3, said Assistant Sub-Inspector at Juddi Police Post, Bir Singh Thagunna.

The accident took place when a truck, Bhe 1 Kha 3468, heading towards Humla from Nepalgunj fell some 500 meters down from the cliff.

The truck driver and driver’s helper died on the spot in the accident. Police have been carrying out further investigation into the incident.
