Kathmandu: Pubudu Dassanayake has been appointed Head Coach of Nepal men’s cricket team. A board meeting of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) held on Saturday morning endorsed Dassanayake’s name as the Head Coach.

Dassanayake had previously worked as the coach of the Nepali national team from 2011-15. He is considered as one of the successful coaches of the national team. Nepal had played T20 World Cup in Bangladesh under his leadership.

The national cricket governing body had called for applications for Head Coach of men’s national cricket team following resignation by Dav Whatmore after the triangular one-day series of the ICC World Cup Cricket League-2 in Oman.

A total of 60 applicants were in the race for the position. Out of them, 15 were shortlisted and five had reached the final interview round.
