Kathmandu: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered to reinstate Ramesh Kumar Silwal as the Member Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC).

The incumbent Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government had dismissed Silwal on September 17 arguing that a clarification sought by the government was not satisfactory. Following the dismissal, Tankalal Ghising was appointed Member-Secretary of the national sports governing body.

Silwal had filed a writ petition at the apex court claiming that the decision to remove him from the post of Member Secretary was illegal. A single bench of Justice Hari Phuyal on Wednesday issued an interim order on the writ petition filed by him. The court ordered the government to let Silwal work in capacity as the Member Secretary.

Silwal was appointed to the post by the KP Sharma Oli-led government.
