Defence Minister Dr Minendra Rijal announces resignation

Kathmandu: Minister for Defence Dr Minendra Rijal has announced his resignation from the ministerial position. 

“I have decided to resign from the post of the Minister of Defense in view of the clear message received from the preliminary results in the post of General Secretary. As soon as the final result is out, I will submit my resignation to the Prime Minister,” Dr Rijal wrote on Twitter.

Dr Rijal contested for the post of the party’s general secretary. As of writing this news, Dr Rijal has received 422 votes.

Till now, as many as 2,421 votes have been counted. Gagan Thapa is leading the race with 1,567 votes, while Bishwa Prakash Sharma has garnered 981 votes.
