Kathmandu: The closed-door session under the 8th General Convention of CPN (Maoist Center) is underway at the Nepal Academy building in Kathmandu on Monday.

Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s political report and party statute along with other documents would be presented in the closed-door session, shared party’s Standing Committee member and Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.
Group-wise discussion would be held on the political report. It is learnt. A total of 1,631 delegates and observers are participating in the closed session.

Representatives from seven geographical provinces and three non-geographical provinces are taking part in the general convention of the party.

It may be noted that the party’s Central Committee meeting held on Sunday morning decided to elect 299-member Central Committee including 15 office-bearers.

Secretary at the central office, Shreeram Dhakal informed that the process of electing leadership would take place after the endorsement of the political report and the statute.

The party had decided to convert its pre-set national conference into the convention on Saturday only. The central committee meeting had endorsed the standing committee decision to that effect on Saturday.
