Schools closed in Humla as mercury dips

Humla: Community and private schools in Humla district have closed for the winter vacation with the increase in the cold.

The mountainous district Humla in the Karnali province has seven local levels. Schools in the district are closed for two months Poush and Magh (mid-December to mid-February).

The local governments in the district have announced the winter vacation for schools with excessive cold. The schools in six out of the seven rural municipalities in the district have closed for the vacation. Accordingly, schools in Simkot, Namkha, Kharpunath, Sarkegad and Tanjakot rural municipalities are closed.

The schools have been closed before administering the annual examinations due to the intense cold at the start of the winter. There are 151 community schools in the district. Of these schools 126 are closed, it is said.

However, Chankheli rural municipality has not announced winter vacation yet for schools in its area.
