Education Ministry decides to shut schools until Jan 29

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has decided to close all schools across the country until January 29 considering the risk of coronavirus pandemic.

A secretary-level meeting held at the ministry on Monday decided to enforce the recommendation made by the Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) to close schools.

A meeting of CCMC held on Sunday had decided to recommend to Education Ministry to close schools. The CMMC had also directed universities and schools to conduct exams by abiding by health protocol including physical distancing. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology was asked to ensure it.

Nepal has seen a surge in coronavirus cases for the past few days. The country on Sunday reported 1,167 new Covid-19 cases.
