Covid-19 Nepal: Active cases cross 21,000-mark with 4,636 new cases reported in the last 24 hour

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population on Saturday said it recorded a total of 4,636 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With the new cases, active Covid-19 cases have crossed the 21,000-mark. Nepal currently has 21,584 active cases.

A total of 3,703 people were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 933 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method.

A total of 14,556 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The Ministry said 10,412 samples were tested through the PCR method while 4,144 samples were through the antigen method. The positivity rate stands at 31.84 percent.

This takes the total number of positive cases in the country to 849,204 confirmed through RT-PCR tests and another 101,041 through antigen tests.

Likewise, altogether 350 Covid-19 patients got full recovery during the period. The Ministry said that the recovery rate in Nepal is 96.1 percent.

According to the Ministry, four people succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 11,617.
